Previously at Burnham Area Flower Club

Our Christmas Show was on November 15th at a new venue for us – Highbridge Community Hall.  Coral Gardiner was our National Demonstrator .
Liz Loze and Carol Rennison have made a super job of dressing the Burnham on Sea library window to publicise our Club .
At our October meeting, our Demonstrator was Caroline Cooper from Lydney, Gloucestershire with ‘In a Previous Life…….’
Here are some of her lovely designs.

Many thanks to those members who came to the clubs end of season plant sale.

All the money raised from plant sales goes to the club; keeping membership fees low, and brings you quality demonstrations, entertainment and workshops throughout the year.

On September 10th,  our Demonstrator was Tracy Johnson from Torquay with Around the world in eighty minutes. Here are some of her designs.

‘Lonely Bouquets’

On 1st July we celebrated National Flower Arranging Day by placing ‘Lonely Bouquets’ at various locations in Burnham and surrounding areas. We hope those people lucky enough to find one of our posies enjoyed the beautiful flowers.

June

Our Demonstrator had to cancel through illness, but club members Di Phillips and Sally Fallows stepped in at very short notice to provide a demonstration of their own. Here are their designs….

Many Thanks and Well Done to you both, from all your friends at the club.

May 14th was both our Competition and ‘Club’ Night, and it was the turn of members and visitors to create their own arrangements. This time, we used empty wine bottles with containers clipped to the sides to hold our flowers and foliage like this…………

And if you would like to see some of our Competition entries and the Results go to the Competitions page.

In April 2024………..

At our club meeting  on 9th, our Demonstrator was  Ellie North from Marston Magna with “Let’s Celebrate”.  Ellies designs took us through a lifetime of celebrations, including a New Baby, Graduation, and of course, a Wedding. Here are a few photos.

We were also delighted to present a cheque for £300, collected by members, to representatives from our local Parkinsons Support Group.

At our March meeting our Demonstrator for the evening was Jenny York from Bristol with ‘Out of Africa’. Jenny entertained us with interesting stories of her Diplomatic career in Africa, and illustrated her tales with exotic floral designs. Here are a few of them.

FEBRUARY 2024

Our first Demonstration of 2024 was on February 13th,  when we were entertained by Kathryn Delve from Yatton. Her title was ‘Waste Not, Want Not’, and as well as a nod to Valentines Day, her designs also included a pair of recycled jeans!

 JANUARY 2024

It was a most enjoyable evening on 9th January; with a good AGM, followed by cheese and wine and a brain-teasing quiz to celebrate our Ruby Anniversary. All exactly 40 years from the day the cub was founded. Well done to all and thanks for such a beautiful anniversary cake.

What a lovely evening we had on 14th November 2023 at the Princess Theatre with Tracey Griffin and her Demonstration called ‘Snowflakes’.

‘Florilegium’ –  NAFAS National Competitions ‘ A gathering of flowers’

Gloucester Cathedral created a beautiful backdrop to the floral arrangements.

The range and colour of the exhibits was awe inspiring from intricate kneelers to six foot installations. The colours were stunning, to suit all tastes, fruits and flowers in apricot, peach and pink, and many in between.

Here are some photographs of entries to inspire you.
